The GeoVancouver 2016 Conference will be held at the Westin Bayshore Vancouver.

Preferred Room Rates

The conference organizers have negotiated preferred rates for conference attendees starting from $181 per room plus taxes. Preferred rates are available two days prior to conference start thru to two days post conference based on availability (September 30, 2016 to October 7, 2016).

Please note the room rates are in Canadian Dollars and are subject to applicable taxes and fees:  
5% GST, 10% Hotel Room Tax (HRT) and 1.5% Destination Marketing Fee (DMF).  These taxes and fees are subject to change without notice. 

Delegates can arrange their accommodation directly with the The Westin Bayshore Hotel, which will provide confirmation to delegates. Reservations can be made in one of four ways (please advise that you are with the “GEO Vancouver” group when submitting your reservation by phone, fax or email):

Please book your room early and before September 16, 2016; after this time the hotel will not be holding rooms for delegates and your request may or may not be granted based on availability.

All cancellations must be made 24 hours days prior to the day of arrival. Cancellations and  no shows after this date will be charged 100% first night plus 50% of the remaining nights plus all applicable taxes. This will be charged to the credit card provided for room guarantee.

Name changes are accepted and must be made not later than 24 hours prior the day of arrival.

If you are a guest of the Westin Bayshore, the cost of self parking is $36 per day and a valet parking $41 per day.


How to get from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Downtown Vancouver

Public Transport 

From Vancouver International Airport you have the possibility of taking the Canada Line. This is Vancouver’s rapid transit rail link connecting YVR to Downtown Vancouver in 25 minutes.

The Canada Line runs every 7 minutes during peak hours and every 15 minutes during off-peak hours. They operate from approximately 05:00 to 01:00.

You can pay your fare at the ticket machines located at the stations. Fares are determined by the number of zones you travel through and the time of day.

The closest station to the Westin Bayshore Hotel is Waterfront. Please note that the hotel is located approximately 1.4km / 20min walking distance from the Waterfront station.

Travel time is between 20 and 45 minutes depending on traffic. Metered taxis, including wheelchair accessible vehicles, are available at taxi stands located on Level 2 of the Domestic and International arrivals area.

A trip to the city center/downtown area will amount to approximately $35, including tax but excluding gratuity.  Taxis also accept credit cards.


Requirements for Entering Canada (Passports, Visas, eTAs)

Canada is introducing a new entry requirement, known as an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), for visa-exempt foreign nationals travelling to or transiting through Canada by air. Exceptions include U.S. citizens and travellers with a valid visa.

Starting August 1, 2015, eligible travellers can apply online for an eTA. On March 15, 2016, this new requirement will become mandatory and travellers will need an eTA before they can board their flight to Canada. To find out more, click here or visit Canada.ca/eTA.

Invitation Letter

All delegates are advised to obtain and submit an official Letter of Invitation from the conference organizers to help facilitate the immigration process. Please note that Letters of Invitation are only issued to registered and paid/approved delegates.
