GeoVancouver 2016 is planning exciting social events for delegates to meet, mingle and get to know their professional colleagues or to make new friends in a relaxed setting, outside of the technical and business streams.

Several social events are planned and will be included in the full conference registration packages or can be ordered “a la carte” by delegates attending part of the conference or for accompanying guests.

The program of social events includes the following:

Ice Breaker Reception
Sunday, October 2, 2016, from 5 pm to 7:30 pm
Come socialize with old friends and make new acquaintances with colleagues from across Canada and the globe at this cocktail reception including complimentary beverages and hors d’oeuvres in the Trade Exhibition Hall.

Dress code: Business casual

Local Colour Night

Monday, October 3, 2016, from 7 pm to 10 pm
The Organizing Committee of GeoVancouver 2016 has planned an unforgettable evening with local flavour for all delegates and guests at the world renowned Vancouver Aquarium located in the heart of Stanley Park. Socialize over drinks and food with your friends and colleagues while getting up close and personal with the aquatic life, such as belugas, sharks and the infamous hiding octopus.

Bus service will be provided for the event. Though, for those adventurous folks who would like to arrive at the event by foot or bicycle in true Vancouver style, please use the following directions to access the site via the Seawall.

Dress code: Business casual (or aquatic themed clothes if you have them!)

Annual Awards Banquet
Tuesday, October 4, 2016 from 7 pm to 10 pm
Come celebrate the professional achievements and merits of your CGS colleagues. In keeping with tradition, the Organizing Committee of GeoVancouver 2016 is planning an up-scale evening with fine dining and great entertainment.

Dress code: Formal wear
