Venue and Accommodation

The GeoVancouver 2017 Conference will be held at the Westin Bayshore Vancouver.

This years’ Conference plans to gather all the good people who are interested in technology and novelties in geotechnical engineering find a way to learn new skills, build new ideas and connect with other researchers, engineers, students and benefactors. The venue and accommodation is the same as last years’ since it prove to be very good for both our participants and organizers. The good experience we have had with the hotel management definitely affected our decision, so this year, same as the year before the Conference will take place at the Westin Bayshore. In the future, we hope that the conference will grow and expand, potentially to other continents as well, but for now we are pleased that we can form a sort of tradition with the Westin Bayshore and let our participants and visitors know that this familiar place will host us once again.

Learn more about the Westin Bayshore in case that you have not had the chance to join in on our conference last year.

The Westin Bayshore offers guests the best of both worlds: the activities and cultural events of the city, as well as a relaxing Vancouver resort experience. This unique duality is just one of the features that allowed The Westin Bayshore, Vancouver to be named to Condé Nast Traveler’s Gold List. Enjoy views of the coastline, distant mountains, and Stanley Park, plus easy access to things to do in Vancouver, all from one of the city’s top downtown Vancouver hotels.

Requirements for Entering Canada (Passports, Visas, eTAs)

Before you leave for the Conference check once again the following: passport, visas, eTAs. Lately, Canada had introduced new entry requirements, which you will need to double check. The requirement known as an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), applies to visa-exempt foreign nationals traveling to or transiting through Canada by air. Also, U.S. citizens are excluded from this and as are travelers with a valid visa.

As of August 1, 2015, travelers which fulfill these conditions can apply online for an eTA. On March 15, 2017, this new requirement will become mandatory, and travelers will need an eTA before they can board their flight to Canada.
